Every LEGO Avatar Set Retiring in 2023 and 2024
27th September 2023
The release of The Way of Water movie at the end of last year prompted the arrival of two waves of colourful LEGO Avatar sets.
None of the current lineup have retirement dates extending past 2024, meaning they won’t be with us for long. This could be an indication that the theme isn’t performing as strongly as expected, which could be down to the high cost of the sets, or the subdued interest around the franchise, compared to others, such as Marvel and Star Wars.
While this could signal the end for a LEGO theme, four more Avatar sets are rumoured for release next year. From an AFOL perspective, this is good news as many of the Avatar sets are well-designed, true to the source material, and have a lot of interesting and unusual parts. So in summary, there’s a lot to like about them.
In this article, we provide the list of LEGO Avatar sets retiring this year and next, so you know which ones to prioritise buying now and which you can hold off from purchasing.
2023
Four LEGO Avatar sets are retiring this year, two of which were only released in January. From a minifigure perspective, the Neytiri & Thanator vs. AMP Suit Quaritch set could be one to watch out for. This is because a human form Colonel Quaritch is unlikely to be seen again, should the theme continue.
LEGO is currently offering a 30% discount on the Floating Mountains: Site 26 & RDA Samson set to customers in the US, so now's a good time to buy it if it's a set you want to add to your collection.
