LEGO has officially revealed the next set in its Ideas range, Tales of the Space Age (21340). The set comes in at an affordable £44.99 / $49.99 / €49.99, which is the lowest priced Ideas set we've had for some time.

There has been criticism before that Ideas sets were no longer accessible for many people, with large scale sets dominating the theme. Thankfully, LEGO seems to be listening to its fans and responding by delivering some smaller and cheaper builds.

The set consists of four vignettes, one more than was presented in the original project submission. With the exception of the additional vignette, there are remarkably few design changes, owing largely to the beautiful simplicity of the build.

The vignettes have an 80s feel to them, and were inspired by classic science fiction posters and book covers of the time.

The Ideas range has once again succeeded in giving us something different, and these make for some stylish display pieces.
