LEGO has officially revealed The Insect Collection, the latest fan-based model to make it to production.

The set features life-size models of a Hercules Beetle, Blue Morpho Butterfly, and Chinese Mantis. Each insect is fully poseable and is accompanied with a brick-built display stands that recreate aspects of the ecosystems they live in.

The original design by José María included a honeybee and ladybird, which still feature but have been downsized significantly, with the ladybird being represented by only a 1x1 tile on the butterfly stand.

With the proportions of each model being accurate to real life, I think this gives the set great value as a display piece.

The set will be available from 4 September for VIP Members and 7 September for everyone else at the Official LEGO® Shop.
