LEGO Technic McLaren Formula 1™ Race Car Officially revealed

Lego has officially revealed the McLaren Formula 1 Race Car set that it teased on Instagram a few days ago. The set will be released on 1st March with a RRP price of £159.99 ($179.99) and the set number 42141.

The Technic model consists of 1,432 pieces and is based on the car the McLaren Formula 1 Team has designed for the upcoming 2022 season. For the 2022 season Formula has dramatically changed the design rules from the 2021 season meaning that the cars will look noticeably different. The changes have been made in an attempt to reduce downforce which should hopefully make for more overtaking and better races.

The model is 65cm long from nose to tail and features a V6 engine with moving pistons, suspension, working steering and a differential lock.

LEGO seems to have a good, long standing relationship with McLaren because over the years we've seen quite a few sets based on cars produced by the British Manufacturer. Currently on LEGO shelves we also have the McLaren Senna GTR™ and the McLaren Elva.

Hopefully if this set sells well we could see LEGO release cars from other formula 1 teams. Ferrari would be an obvious choice as LEGO already has an existing relationship with the company.
