NASA's SLS Block 1 & 1B Rockets - Artemis Missions Hits 10,000 Supporters on LEGO Ideas
19th September 2023
NASA's SLS Block 1 & 1B Rockets - Artemis Missions have soared to 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas and now enter the third review round of 2023.
The project depicts the spacecraft involved in NASA's moon exploration program Artemis. This includes the Space Launch System (SLS) rockets, the Orion spacecraft, and the Lunar Gateway space station.
The two project creators, Matthew Nolan and Valerie Roche, have designed in the ability to create two different versions of the SLS rocket (Block 1 & 1B) and the Orion spacecraft.
The dimensions for the Block 1 rocket are 9.6 cm / 3.8 in (W) x 14.9 cm / 5.8 in (D) x 89.0 cm / 35.1 in (H) and 9.6 cm / 3.8 in (W) x 14.9 cm / 5.8 inches (D) x 100.5 cm / 39.5 inches (H) for the Block 1B rocket. This puts the Block 1B rocket at near identical proportions to the retired Apollo Saturn V.
Although having both side by side would look great on display, it's unlikely LEGO would choose such a similar project.
In total, the builds and their display stands are made up from 2,661 pieces.
The other projects already in the review round are listed below.
