This set was released under the third round of the 2021 Bricklink Designer Program. This program gave selected LEGO Ideas projects, which achieved 10,000 supporters but failed to be selected by LEGO for production, a second chance at being produced. There were 9 projects in the third crowdfunding round, which ran from May - June 2022, and the first 5 to reach 3,000 pre-orders went into production. Each set was limited to 10,000 copies and was shipped in Bricklink branded packaging. This set was the third from the third round to sell out.
