Finalists of Bricklink Designer Program Series 1 Announced
8th May 2023
The finalists of the Series 1 BrickLink Designer Program have been announced by Bricklink. The program started back in March and it marked the start of a permanent program allowing designers to submit their ideas to a fan vote and review by the Bricklink team, in hopes of becoming official sets.
The results of the fan vote, which ran from March 7 - 31, were considered alongside the program's internal selection criteria, which includes building experience and brand fit amongst others, to arrive at the final five designs.
The next step will be a crowdfunding phase, beginning in February 2024, which will see all designs receiving over 3,000 pre-orders make it to production. 20,000 copies of each successful set will be made, which is double the number of the Bricklink Developer Program 2021 Invitational. However, this time around, there will be a maximum of two copies of each set per household, while before this was restricted to one.
Given how quickly the sets in the Bricklink Developer Program 2021 Invitational sold out, we expect all the finalists to cross the required 3,000 pre-order threshold.
Fans of Castle, Western, the Modular Buildings Collection, and LEGO Trains will be all happy with the final lineup, as we have designs inspired by each of the themes. Details on the parts and piece counts are listed below, but these will change between now and February as the designs are made production ready.
It was also revealed that Series 2 submissions will open on May 15.
