LEGO has officially revealed the next "UCS" Batman set, the Batcave Shadowbox. The set is the largest Batman / DC to be released so far, with 3,981 pieces, and is the first time Bruce Wayne's lair has been captured in such detail. It depicts the Batcave as seen in the 1992 Batman Returns movie.

The set is designed as a "tableau" that can be folded out to reveal a range of play features. This includes many movable features, such as Batman's chair, computer screen, weapons store doors, illuminated Batsuit vault, and garage doors that are all controlled by buttons on the back of the shadowbox.

When folded the Batman emblem can be seen in the side of the shadowbox that reveals some of the inner Batcave. Given the large RRP, it's not unreasonable to expect LEGO to opt for printed parts to capture the internal detail, but disappointingly there is a large number of stickers to be applied.

The set includes seven minifigures: Bruce Wayne, Alfred, Max Shreck, the Penguin, Catwoman, and two Batman suits, one with a fabric cape and the other with a moulded cape.

The set will be available for VIP Members from 5 June and from 8 June for non-VIPs.
