Today, LEGO officially revealed details of the next Lord of the Rings set, rumours of which had been circulating online for the past couple of months. After much speculation as to what location from Middle Earth LEGO would choose and what it would look like, we now know for certain what it will be Rivendell.
The set is the largest LEGO Lord of the Rings set ever released with 6,167 pieces including 15 minifigures which are Frodo, Sam, Pippin, Merry, Gandalf, Gimli, Legolas, Boromir, Aragorn, Elrond, Arwen, Bilbo, Gloin and two elves.
I'm sure we were not alone in fearing LEGO would make a micro-scale model, like they did with 71043 Hogwarts Castle, but thankfully this set is minifigure scale.
Rivendell is where Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin journey to in The Fellowship of the Ring after and meet up with Bilbo after his disappearance at his eleventy-first birthday. It's also here where the Council of Elrond is held to discuss what should be done with the One Ring and where the Fellowship is subsequently formed.
This is one of the most highly anticipated sets in recent years, as LEGO and LotR fans have long been crying out for a reboot of the theme, which last released a wave of sets back in 2013.
