Youtuber's Shrek Project Races to 10,000 Supporters on LEGO Ideas
23rd January 2023

The popular LEGO Youtuber Ashnflash has seen his Shrek's Swamp project reach 10,000 supporters in just three days. It now enters the review round, whereupon it could become an official LEGO set.

The project depicts the lovable ogre's home, which is built into a large, mossy tree stump. Just like in the movies, the house consists of a large main room, which functions as a kitchen, dining room, and living room. Off this is a small bedroom for Shrek and Fiona.
To help improve playability, the roof can be removed to expose the interior. Here you will find references to objects seen on-screen, such as Shrek's earwax candle, his jar of eyeballs and armchair, the Magic Mirror TV remote, and the dead plant and fishes that Donkey fails to take care of while the couple are away on their honeymoon.

The set can also be opened up down the middle to give better access, and there is a small side build of the wooden outhouse that acts as Shrek's toilet.
Six minifigures have been included of Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, Puss in Boots, Big Bad Wolf, and Pinocchio. There are also four statuettes depicting the Gingerbread Man and The Three Blind Mice.

While some may be a bit miffed that someone has used their huge following to breeze into the review stage, you can't fault the quality of the project. The vegetation on the tree trunk has been particularly well designed and there is excellent detail both inside and out. Ashnflash had reportedly been working on the project for a few years and it clearly shows.
You have to say that the chance of success for this project seems high, as we have seen similar projects of popular children's franchises be approved before, such as Winnie the Pooh and Sesame Street. 2024 would also be the 20th anniversary of Shrek 2, which might also act in this project's favour.
Shrek's Swamp joins eleven other projects that have already reached the 10K mark. These are:
- Brick Boulevard
- Medieval Seaside Market
- The Stargate
- Motorized Howl's Moving Castle
- Soyuz spaceship
- Stargate SG1: Embarkation Room
- The Crown - A Piece of History
- The Botanical Garden
- Sweet Honey
- Dr. Seuss and LEGO
