This set was released under the second round of the 2021 Bricklink Designer Program. This program gave selected LEGO Ideas projects, which achieved 10,000 supporters but failed to be selected by LEGO for production, a second chance at being produced. There were 9 projects in the second crowdfunding round, which ran from November - December 2021, and the first 5 to reach 3,000 pre-orders went into production. Each set was limited to 10,000 copies and was shipped in Bricklink branded packaging. The LEGO Modular Store was the first project to sell out.
