LEGO Star Wars 2023 Return of the Jedi Dioramas Officially Revealed

6th April 2023

Following closely in the footsteps of the UCS X-wing unveiling, LEGO has officially revealed two new dioramas that celebrate the 40th anniversary of Episode VI.

The announcement follows a long stream of leaks and retailers mistakenly placing the sets on their shelves, so these sets will come as little surprise to the LEGO community.

Emperor's Throne Room Diorama

The 75352 Emperor's Throne Room Diorama recreates the final showdown between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, in front of Emperor Palpatine. All three characters are present in the set and Luke has been given a brand new hairpiece mould. This iconic scene has been captured numerous times in the history of LEGO Star Wars, most recently in 2020, but this is undoubtedly the most detailed and sophisticated depiction of the throne room.

Endor Speeder Chase Diorama

Set number: 75353

Price: £69.99 / $79.99 / €79.99

Pieces: 608

Available: 1st May 2023 (Pre-order from 7th April 2023)

Where to buy?: Pre-order at the LEGO® Shop

The slightly smaller of the two dioramas depicts the pursuit of Luke and Leia by Scout Troopers on the forested and Ewok-inhabited planet of Endor. Again, we've had several LEGO speeder bike-themed sets over the years, and this is one of the better ones. But I have to say, this set feels a bit lacking and sparse. The “Quick! Jam their comlinks. Center switch!” quote that sits at the front of the diorama is also not the most recognisable and eloquent line from the movie.

Overall, however, I like this continuation of the diorama subtheme, as they make for great display pieces. If you want to be the first to get your hands on these sets, you can pre-order them from 7 April.
