Retiring UCS Republic Gunship Sells Out Online

Over the weekend, LEGO applied a rare 30% discount to two of its UCS Star Wars sets, the Republic Gunship and Razor Crest, at its online shop in the US. Combine that with the fact it coincided with the Double Insider Points event, and you essentially had a 40% reduction. Getting this kind of discount on a UCS set is unheard of and it resulted in the Republic Gunship selling out completely.

Although very welcome, such generosity is puzzling. With the Black Friday and Christmas shopping periods still to come, you would think there'd' be plenty of demand for these sets in the next couple of months, so why the need for such a good deal?

Many LEGO collectors, myself included, would have been waiting for Black Friday to pick up the Republic Gunship, but now the set is technically retired in the US. Thankfully, in Europe, the Gunship is still available for now, but it's a good idea to act quickly if you want to add it to your collection!

For US LEGO fans, before fighting it out on the secondary market, its worth checking other retailers to see if they still have the set in stock. Our Amazon Price Tracker checks for discounts on all LEGO Star Wars sets on a daily basis, so this is worth checking regulary.
