This set was given away free at the 2008 San Diego Comic Con to promote the launch of the LEGO Batman video game. It includes minifigures of Batman and the Joker, neither of which were exclusive to the set. It is reported that Comic Con attendees had to visit different booths at the convention (i.e. LEGO and Warner Bros booths) to collect the individual parts of the Joker minifigure. Attendees that collected all the minifigures parts could then visit the Warner Bros booth with them to receive the Batman minifigure and the set's packaging. The set was limited to 1,000 copies.
